Meeting together,

Hebrews 10:23-25

Power of the Word

The Bible is reliable, and unmatched by any other book! It shows us how to live in harmony with God. Believing and doing the Word shows our love for Him, and brings us inner peace, fruitful living, and joy forever when we are called into His Presence.  Its power is unique!

Power to Create

“By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of His mouth” (Psalm 33:6).

Power to Sustain Creation

“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being, sustaining all things by His powerful word” (Hebrews 1:3).

Power to Heal

“He sent forth His word and healed them; He rescued them from the grave” (Psalm 107:20).

Power to Reveal the Attitudes of the Heart

“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Hebrew 4:12).

Power to Give Us New Birth

“He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of all that He created” (James 1:18). “For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God” (1 Peter 1:23).

Power to Lead Us To Faith

“… faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17).

Power to Save Us

“But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 3:14,15).

Power to Make Us Holy

“Sanctify them by the truth; Your Word is truth” (John 17:17). “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to Himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless” (Ephesians 5:26). Also, see John 17:17.

Power to Renew Our Minds

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will” (Romans 12:2). Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things (Colossians 3:1,2).

Power to Win Over Darkness

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil . . . And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” (Ephesians 6:10-17).

Power to Equip Us for Every Good Work

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16,17).

Power for Life and Godliness

“His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. Through these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires” (2 Peter 1:3,4).

Love of the Truth

Our minds are designed to be used productively by filling it with His Word. The person who delights in the Word of God and meditates on it will be truly blessed, and will be a blessing (Psalms 1:1-3; 119:45,46).

Jesus was asked, “What will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” His first words were, “Be careful that no one deceives you” (Matthew 24:3,4).

He said of Himself, “I am the Truth, the Way and the Life” (John 14:6). “If you hold to My teaching, you are really My disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:31,32).

Refusing to love the truth will lead to personal destruction (2 Thessalonians 2:9-17).
